Geocaching & cruisin' the city :)

Matt started working Saturday and so what am I doing you ask? Well, I've been searching for a job. It really shouldn't be hard to find one since the tourist season is on, but I want a good one! Hopefully my next post will be a celebration of finding just that.. whether it be at the hospital or the fudge factory down the street :)

Matt had his first flight exploring the glaciers the other day. In his words it was the bestest, coolest, sweetest thing he's ever done in a helicopter! :) All the pilots seemed to be in awe when they returned that day. I sure can't wait until it's my turn!! Hopefully soon!






Since we don't have a car(and are going to try and live without one), I got a bus pass and have been exploring the city. I tried to make it to church on Sunday and between finding where the bus stops, when it comes, where the church is, pouring rain, wearing a skirt, phone is about dead(in which an iphone would be totally helpful at this point), toes numbing, THEN finding out there was stake conference earlier in the day... let's just say I really hope I can laugh about that one day. Needless to say, the picture above as taken BEFORE I knew what I was in for.

This is the view from the library. AKA where I finally caught a bus after missing it only once.


Here is a random picture three other pilots Matt works with. The one in the middle actually lives with us. Names from the left are Nick, "Sho"(At least that's what we call him because he doesn't think we'd be able to pronounce his real name), and Nico. These three amigos are also known as the "foreigners" as they all origin in different countries.

Matt is so artsy with his photography and I LOVE this picture. This was taken last night on our way geocaching!! For those of you who don't know what the heck that means- it's just a world-wide scavenger hunt found online. You need a GPS and clues are given to you to find these caches. They come in all different sizes/shapes and contain all sorts of trinkets(in which you can trade) and usually a scroll that you can write you're name and say "I was here!". Anyway, it's tons of fun so we went exploring last night.

We used Matt's phone as our GPS. He actually has an app for the geocaching. I mean, what can't his phone do?

I found it!! This one as hidden by the governor's mansion. I was so proud of myself because Matt always seems to find them first.


Inside was some coins, delicious smelling gum, gummy hands?, and a scroll. As soon as no "muggles" were around, we returned the cache to its hiding and headed downtown to get our first glimpse of the cruise ships that will be coming in all summer.
